Official Barnwell Records Contacts

This is a private reference resource, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, release someone, post bond, or obtain an official booking record. Contact the appropriate Barnwell County, municipal, court, state, or federal office directly for those services.

Where to direct a records question

For a current county-custody question, begin with the Barnwell County Detention Center. For a Sheriff record or the current county records route, use Sheriff administration. A written county request goes through the County FOIA Manager. These offices hold different material, so the request should identify the person, approximate date, agency, and record sought.

The County form says not to send FOIA requests by fax.

The County Detention Center’s public page does not provide an online roster or booking-photo policy. The Sheriff directory identifies records personnel but no separate records telephone number, so callers should ask administration for the current custodian before submitting a request.

  • Use the home record path for detention contacts, the County FOIA process, court steps, and state or federal locator distinctions.
  • For a City of Barnwell incident report, contact City Police Records rather than assuming the jail holds that agency’s report.
  • For a court result, use the South Carolina Judicial Branch Public Index and then the Barnwell Clerk of Court as needed.
  • For a sentenced state-prison question, use the South Carolina Department of Corrections public offender search and records route.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the appropriate BOP or ICE locator only when that custody system is relevant.
